Class Expectations
Be Respectful - Respect yourself, all of your classmates, and Mrs. Slavens. Do what is asked the first time, be cooperative and helpful. Everyone in this group is worthy of consideration and has a right to a productive learning environment free from disruption. We need to encourage each other toward our common objectives.
Please Watch Your Mouth - Students will exhibit courtesy and respect toward all other students at all times. Hateful comments concerning race, gender, sexuality, political views, appearance, or of any other type will not be tolerated; this applies to serious as well as "joking" comments. You are not allowed to have conversations in class while I am lecturing, answering questions or giving instructions. Remember – if you are talking to someone while I am addressing the class, you both will miss important information. YOU do not have the right to interfere with another person’s education!
Electronic Devices – This class is a paperless class therefore an academic electron device (laptop or iPad) will be necessary at all times. If you are using an iPad, you will need to arrive to class with it charged. If you charge your iPad every night and are using it at school just for academic purposes, maintaining a charge should not be a problem. If you do not have access to a laptop or iPad, you can use a cell phone BUT ONLY FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES. Please do not let this become a problem in my class!
Students will be allowed to listen to personal music during tests. Headphones should remain off and stored at all times unless taking a test.
I Need to See Your Eyes - Students may not sleep in class. To prevent this, students' eyes must be open and visible to the instructor at all times.
